Blogtoberfest #12: Quilt 'til You Wilt

I made the 2 hour drive north tonight to join my mom for the monthly "Quilt til you wilt" Friday at our local quilt shop. I do consider this place to be my 'local' quilt shop, even though its 2 hours away. My Aunt is the store manager, and my mom moonlights at the cutting table on the weekends. This place is my home.
This event is completely worth the two hour drive. Nothing better than quilting, good food, and small town gossip.

  1. This sounds like so much fun! I live in a big city with quite a few local quilt shops, but none have events like this that I know of. I could go for some small town gossip too. ;)

I also wanted to say thanks for stopping by my blog! I didn't have a way to e-mail you back so I wanted to make sure to answer your embroidery question here. When working with water soluble pens, I like to use a spray bottle with a light mist to remove my lines. You could also gently hand wash your finished piece just with cold tap water to really ensure they all disappear the first time. Clover also makes a water soluble pen that has an erasure marker on one end that work wonders on small areas. So far I haven't had any issues with the pen marks not removing completely after trying any of these methods. :)

  2. What fun! I love those kind of workshop/get-togethers. I looked like you were well prepared. I can't wait to see your log cabin blocks.

To add to the comment above, I also use a spray bottle to mist the water-soluble ink and put a towel underneath (for migration).
